Costume & Set Design for Period Storytelling
Kayla Kamm Studio specializes in costume and set design for historical and period productions, bringing together meticulous research, deep character psychology, and a commitment to authentic storytelling. Each project begins with extensive historical investigation, examining primary sources, archival photographs, and period textiles to ensure every design choice serves both historical accuracy and dramatic purpose.
The studio's approach centers on understanding characters from the inside out. Rather than simply dressing actors in period-appropriate garments, designs emerge from questions about who these people are, what they value, and how their inner lives manifest in their external presentation. This psychological methodology, combined with sustainable sourcing practices and partnerships with vintage dealers and textile archives, creates designs that feel lived-in and authentic.
Every costume tells a story before the actor speaks a word.
With experience spanning Regency drawing rooms to Victorian parlors, from Edwardian estates to 1920s speakeasies, the studio brings a scholar's eye and an artist's sensibility to every production. The work honors the craft traditions of historical garment-making while serving contemporary theatrical storytelling.
